Kirchenschlager wins team roping in Hugo

Allen in barrel race, other team ropers also earn paychecks

(June 1, 2015) — A handful of local team ropers and a Stephenville barrel racer were among the winners at the Hugo PRCA Rodeo in Hugo, Okla. last weekend.

Morgan Mill heeler Dakota Kirchenschlager and partner JoJo LeMond roped first place and $2,681 each in a blistering 3.6 seconds. Stephenville heeler Travis Graves and teammate Chad Masters were fourth in 4.3 seconds, earning $1,632 each, and Lipan heeler Patrick Smith partnered with reigning all-around world champ Trevor Brazile to rope fifth place and $1,282 in 4.4.

Kirchenschlager is currently 32nd in the most recently updated world standings after reaching the NFR in 2014. Smith is ranked fifth in the world and Graves is 13th. World standings can be found at prorodeo.com.

Allen used a time of 15.43 seconds to tie Layna Kight in the barrel race at Hugo. Allen, who has made headlines with impressive recent runs at Lone Star Arena, earned $1,576 for the run, finishing just .18 seconds behind Carley Richardson’s first-place time of 15.25.

Allen is ranked 48th in the barrel racing standings, according to wpra.com.
