Dublin ISD chooses ‘not to renew’ teacher’s contract

DUBLIN (June 9,2015) –​Dublin ISD will not renew the contract of bilingual kindergarten teacher Cipriano Rivera after the 2014-2015 school year. Board members made this decision after a near two hour long closed session at the special board meeting on Monday.

​Board members unanimously voted in favor of the removal of Rivera at 7:13 p.m., with the exception of Jeff Weaver, who abstained from voting.

​After a second closed session, the DISD school board also voted to take no action in the hiring of a new coach.

​The special board meeting adjourned at 7:47 p.m.

  1. I think this is a shame for the students of Dublin ISD. I was a volunteer one day in Mr. Rivera’s class. It was October, and he already had many of his kindergarten students reading. Since then I have followed his Facebook page and have been so impressed with the many learning activities he had his students engaged in. Wonder if any of those board members ever bothered to visit Mr. Rivera’s class?
