STEPHENVILLE (June 10, 2015) — Stephenville ISD is among the five school districts nationwide that will serve as the first “cohorts” for the Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools, according to a Digital Promise Leadership release issued on Wednesday.
SISD superintendent Matt Underwood recently completed the first phase of a year-long coaching and mentoring program for digital transformation, according to the release. The concept of digital transformation is finding its way into a lot of industries and businesses. The collaboration of business and technology seems to be making a positive impact in the growth of a company. There is a lot to take in when it comes to this concept, especially if this is completely new to you, which is why looking into something like Salesforce.com, examples of digital transformation would be beneficial to you so you can understand the benefits of this technological progression.
The Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools is a national coalition of school district superintendents that “fosters collaboration between education leaders and entrepreneurs, researchers and thought partners,” the release states. “The purpose of the Leadership Coaching and Mentoring program is to support K-12 leaders working towards transforming learning in their districts through technology. Digital Promise coaches provide expertise and technical assistance to leaders who want to move toward a student-centric classroom design that leverages the power of technology.”
Underwood is excited to see Stephenville joining the cohort for 2015-16 along with schools from Gurnee, Illinois; Oklahoma City; Orange County, California; and Weslaco in south Texas.
“The Digital Promise Initiative will allow our district to complete a full readiness evaluation to prepare our teachers, students and parents for the upcoming digital transformation,” said Underwood, according to the release. “We feel extremely fortunate to have such innovative leaders assisting us in this endeavor.”
Program leaders are Dr. Manuel Isquierdo, former superintendent of Sunnyside School District in Arizona, and Dr. Cindy Elsberry, former superintendent of Horry County Schools in South Carolina.
The year-long program concludes next spring with a Digital Transformation Summit in a League of Innovative Schools premiere district.
Members of the Digital Promise League of Innovative Schools represent more than 3.2 million students in 57 districts and 27 states.
“Their experiences reflect the diversity and shared challenges challenges facing K-12 public education,” the release states. “The goal of Digital Promise is to empower school districts and district leaders to become better consumers of innovative approaches to teaching and learning, therefore ensuring the most effective practices are broadly shared to scale.”
