STEPHENVILLE (June 19, 2015) — All that remains at the College National Finals Rodeo are 10 the final 10 runs of the third go in each event on Friday and the short go on Saturday.

That’s all that stands between the Tarleton State men’s team and its first national championship since 2005.

Tarleton leads the team standings with 400 points at Casper Events Center, but the race is tight. Tennessee-Martin is just 20 points back with 380 in second and Panhandle State (Okla.) is third with 345. Tarleton cowboy Landon Williams maintained his narrow lead in the all around standings and stretched his advantage in tie-down roping to 1.6 seconds with a third-go time of 9.4 Thursday. He has scored 140 points in tie-down and added 40 as a team roping heeler partnered with Weatherford College header Casey Tew.

The final 10 runs of the third go in each event are Friday evening with the short go to follow on Saturday.

Jace Lane of Tarleton put a third-go 8.4 on the back of a 5.6 and 7.9 to jump to the top of the average in the steer wrestling with a total of 21.9 on three head. But his lead isn’t expected to last long. Jacob Edler of Western Oklahoma State College has needed just 10.7 seconds to wrestle two steers, and will take the lead with a run of less than 11.2 on Friday.

Lane is also third in saddle bronc. He has covered all three broncs for scores of 68.5, 66.5 and 64.5 for a total of 199.5 on three head.
