SPECIAL TO THE FLASH
STEPHENVILLE (June 27, 2015) — Do you remember how special it was to get new school supplies each year? There’s a new organization in town that is making that happy memory possible for about 900 children in Stephenville this August, but they need your help.  The organizers of the Community-wide School Supplies Project are looking for partners in this effort to help children obtain these needed supplies. All SISD students qualified for free or reduced lunches received a registration form in May and nearly 900 registration forms were turned in requesting help.
Working with the Stephenville ISD and Executive Director of HR & Student Services Kathy Haynes are several churches and mission organizations including Faith Lutheran/Faith School, First United Methodist, First Presbyterian, Oakdale United Methodist, Basic Needs, Grace Place, Salvation Army, and H.O.P.E Inc., but more participants are desperately needed.

Churches, civic organizations, and individuals are encouraged to partner with the Community-wide School Supplies Project in one of two ways: (1) You or your group donates money to be used to purchase the supplies, or (2) You or your group collect and donate certain school supplies items you have been assigned by the organizers.

There is also a need for volunteers to help assemble the school supplies bags on Thursday, August 6, 1 p.m. at the Hook Elementary School Cafeteria at 1067 W. Jones St. The distribution will be on Saturday, August 8, from 9 a.m. until noon at the Hook Elementary Cafeteria. Volunteers are needed to help with the distribution as well.
Please contact Cynthia Rives at 254-592-1510 if you or your organization would like to help provide these needed supplies.
