Tarleton basketball teams rank fifth, sixth nationally in attendance

STEPHENVILLE (July 6, 2015) – The Tarleton State basketball teams both ranked in the top 10 in the nation in NCAA Division II attendance for the 2014-15 season.

The Tarleton State women’s basketball team finished fifth in the nation in home attendance with 1,952 fans per game. The TexAnns had 25,375 for 13 home games.

The TexAnns’ fifth-place finish also gave them the highest ranking for Lone Star Conference teams with Midwestern St ranking 10th and averaging 1,384.

The Lone Star Conference was third in the nation for women’s basketball with 832 fans per home game.

The Tarleton State men’s basketball team, who made their third trip to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight after a 31-4 season, ranked sixth and averaged 2,097 fans per home game while amassing 44,031 fans in 21 games.

Northern State topped the list with an attendance of 3,402 per game.

Tarleton State had the highest attendance ranking in the Lone Star Conference with Midwestern State ranking 11th with an average of 1,966 fans and Angelo State in 23rd with 1,380.

The Lone Star Conference finished second in the nation for conference attendance with an average of 1,169. The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association led with 1,514.

Tarleton State’s women’s basketball attendance is more than 278 Division I schools and the men’s team is more than 157 Division I teams.
