BRYAN (July 9, 2015) — Through two games, Stephenville has yet to taste victory at the Adidas Texas 7v7 Championship at Veterans Park.

The Yellow Jackets need win and tie-breaking help to reach the championship bracket after dropping each of their first two pool games in Division II action Thursday afternoon.

The second game saw Stephenville fall 19-7 to Yoakum, thanks largely to four interceptions. Navasota picked off three passes and ran one back for a touchdown while thumping the Yellow Jackets 54-18 in the pool opener.

The lone Stephenville touchdown was the first score of the game, with sophomore quarterback Easton Jones hooking up with senior receiver Darian Brown on an out rout just beyond the goal line.

Yoakum led 13-7 by halftime before a pair of interceptions by its defense, a deliberate pace by its offense and a slew of penalty flags made for a choppy second half.

To reach the championship bracket, Stephenville must defeat White Oak at 5 p.m., have Navasota knock off Yoakum and win a points-based tie-breaker. Otherwise, the Yellow Jackets will be in the consolation bracket for the second straight year.

Championship and consolation play begins Friday morning.
