(STEPHENVILLE) July 10, 2015 — Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Performance Rod Cole has announced two departures from his staff, as well as recognizing significant accomplishment from his student staff.

Adam Biehl and Leigh Anne Rogers will be pursing other career opportunities next season. Biehl has accepted the position of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin while Rogers will become the next Girls Strength and Conditioning Coach at Splendora High School.

“Adam has done a fantastic job in his role as the first full-time assistant coach at Tarleton State,” said Cole. “I wish him the best at UTPB. The search for his replacement will begin immediately.

“Leigh Anne came to us in the fall of 2013 and gave us two years of outstanding service, earning her certification with the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa) in the meantime,” continued Cole. “Splendora High School is getting a fine young strength coach.”

In addition to the staffing changes, Cole also announced the recent success of four current and former student interns – who recently earned the gold standard of strength and conditioning certifications. The certification requires a nine-month practicum under an approved mentor, in addition to written and oral examinations at the CSCCa National Conference in Nashville in May.

With the certifications now complete, the Tarleton Athletic Performance alums are moving on to further their careers as well.

Gavyn Clare, a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma and intern with Tarleton State Athletic Performance, will be stepping into a new role replacing Leigh Anne Rogers on the Texan Iron Athletic Performance staff for 2015-16.

“Gavyn has done a fine job for us for one year and has earned the opportunity to handle extra responsibilities,” said Cole.

Kade Cole, who began his career in Stephenville as a linebacker for the Texans before moving on to serve as an intern in athletic performance for Tarleton and the University of Kentucky, recently accepted the Head Strength and Conditioning post at Hardin-Simmons. He spent last season as a graduate assistant coach for East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma.

“Kade has come a long way in a short time as a strength and conditioning coach,” said Rod Cole.  “I am very proud of him as his coach, as his mentor, and especially as his father.”

Former Texan offensive lineman Matt Green has interned for two-and-a-half years at Tarleton before recently accepting a position as strength and conditioning coach, powerlifting coach, and assistant football coach at Salado High School for 2015-16.

“Matt is a good young strength coach who will do a great job at Salado,” said Rod Cole.

Rance Terry, a former Lubbock Christian University baseball player who interned for a year-and-a-half at Tarleton while earning his master’s degree, is now an assistant strength coach for the St. Louis Cardinals baseball organization. He is currently serving with the Cardinals’ minor league team in State College, Pennsylvania.

“Rance is an outstanding young strength and conditioning coach who is pursuing his passion of working with baseball. He has a very bright future,” said Rod Cole.

“We strive for excellence in our Athletic Performance program by serving our Athletic Department and student-athletes as well as we can,” continued Cole. “No other university in the country had more people take the CSCCa exam or pass the CSCCa exam than Tarleton State. In addition to seeing our athletic programs succeed, it is also exciting to see our young coaches accomplish professional milestones and move on to great opportunities. We have more coaches currently undergoing the interview process for potential jobs. It’s always good to get more Texans out there coaching.”
