(September 8, 2015) — Kaleigh Conger was off to a good start at West Tuesday night.

The senior outside hitter had five early kills and Stephenville was up a set and trying to pull within one win of a sweep.

But Conger rolled an ankle, was forced to finish the second set with Stephenville out of timeouts, then did not return.

It was a bad omen for the Stephenville, as everything downhill from there. West won the second set, then claimed the third and fourth to knock off the Honeybees 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-23).

Stephenville picked up 13 kills from senior middle Kourtney Seaton, 11 from senior outside hitter Mikay Hobbs, seven from sophomore middle Nicona Stilwell and six from senior outside hitter Kerstin Fredrickson.

Reports were that Conger was walking after the match, but that the ankle was “a little swollen.” Libero Kylee Ponder hurt her wrist in the loss, reportedly by jamming it against the court attempting to make a dig.

Stephenville welcomes 6A Copperas Cove to Gandy Gym with action beginning at 4 p.m. and the varsity playing about 5 p.m.
