STEPHENVILLE (September 11, 2015) — That wind gust you hear and feel is the Stephenville volleyball faithful letting out a collective sigh of relief.
Kaleigh Conger is “good to go.”
The senior outside hitter rolled her ankle near the end of the second set at West Tuesday night. She never returned, and Stephenville never recovered. Despite winning the first set, Stephenville dropped the next three to lose in four, only the third loss to a 4A team this season by the Honeybees.
With Conger not returning to the floor and with reports suggesting the ankle was swelling after the game, it made for nervous moments for Honeybee fans, as Conger is a key piece to their formidable group of hitters that also includes senior middle Kourtney Seaton, senior outside Mikayla Hobbs, senior outside Kerstin Fredrickson and sophomore middle Nicona Stilwell.
“It was very slight sprain and she is good to go,” said veteran Stephenville head coach Fran Metzger, who topped 600 career wins last month.
Stephenville hosts 6A Copperas Cove with matches beginning at 4:30 p.m. today. The varsity match should begin between 5 and 5:30.
