Tarleton’s Wild tops leaderboard at Indianapolis Invitational

CARMEL, Ind. (September 14, 2015) – The TexAnn golf team is in fourth place and Casey Wild sits atop the individual leaderboard after the opening round of the University of Indianapolis Fall Invitational at the Prairie View Golf Club.

In their first tournament of the 2015 fall season, Tarleton shot a 310 (+22) and sit seven strokes off the lead behind Florida Tech at 303 (+15).

The University of Indianapolis (306, +18), last year’s NCAA Division II National Champion, and Dallas Baptist (309, +21) are the other teams ranked ahead of Tarleton after the first round.

Wild, the reigning Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year, shot an even-par 72 while carding three birdies and 12 pars to grab the lead after day one.

Isabel Jimenez-Perea is in a five-way tie for sixth with a 3-over-par 75. The three-time LSC Player of the Year had two birdies and 11 pars.

Beatriz Prados is seven strokes back in 23rd place after carding a 79 (+7).

Rounding out the Tarleton scorecard was Sarah Gee and Kerbey Kipp who both shot an 84 (+12).

The final round will begin Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. ET with a shotgun start.
