Arrest made in Food Plaza burglary

STEPHENVILLE (September 17, 2015) — Stephenville PD officials announced Thursday evening that an arrest has been made in the burglary of the Food Plaza on Sunday, Sept. 13 — Matthew James Comer, 29.

According to Stephenville PD, at 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, the Food Plaza, located at 2963 West Washington Street, was robbed by a white male suspect who pulled a knife on the clerk. Comer left with cash and gasoline in a Dodge Neon. Later that morning, Comer was arrested in Rockwall County and booked into the Rockwall County Jail on unrelated charges.

An email to The Flash indicated that the SPD investigation led officers to the arrest of Comer by Rockwall County officers. Stephenville PD notified Rockwall County and recovered evidence from the Food Plaza robbery. An arrest warrant for Aggravated Robbery (First Degree Felony) was issued for Comer and was served by Rockwall County Sheriff’s Department in jail.

Comer is in jail in Rockwall County on charges of Evading Arrest or Detention with a vehicle, Resisting Arrest, Search or Transportation and Unauthorized Use of a Motorized Vehicle, in addition to the robbery charge from Erath County. He is being held on $31,000 bond for the Rockwall charges and $200,000 on the Erath County charges.
