Texan Cross Country moves up to No. 8 in regional rankings

STEPHENVILLE – In the third poll released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Tuesday, Tarleton’s men came in at No. 8 in the South Central region.

The Texans moved up one spot after being ninth last week. Tarleton opened the season at seventh in the regional rankings.

Tarleton came away with 192 points and a seventh-place finish last weekend at the Southern Stampede hosted by Missouri Southern State. Tarleton was led by Tye Doty‘s fourth-place finish – out of 266 participants – in a time of 24:43.64, a new personal best for the senior in the 8K.

Tarleton is one of two LSC teams in the regional rankings with West Texas A&M coming in fifth. The other eight teams are from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with three-time defending National Champions Adams State atop the rankings.

Tarleton’s next meet will be on Oct. 3 at the Chile Pepper Invitational in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
