McCants leads nation in all-purpose yards, earns LSC special teams honor

STEPHENVILLE (September 28, 2015) — Daniel McCants is doing it all for Tarleton State. Returning kicks, rushing, even receiving passes out of the backfield.

After 334 total yards – 214 on seven kick returns – in a 63-46 loss at Midwestern State in Wichita Falls Saturday, McCants leads the nation in all-purpose yards with 228.7 per game. The redshirt freshman from Killeen is responsible for 224 rushing yards, 82 receiving yards and 380 kick return yards, a total of 686. He rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown at MSU and added 37 yards and another score through the air.

On Monday, McCants was named Lone Star Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after averaging 30.6 yards per return at MSU. He and the Texans welcome Texas A&M-Commerce to Stephenville Saturday during Tarleton Family Weekend.
