(October 3, 2015) — Since the perennial powers joined classifications in 2012, no volleyball team has stood in the way of Stephenville more often than Abilene Wylie.

No road block had been as insurmountable, it seemed, as Wylie eliminated Stephenville from the Region I-3A final in 2012 and swept four matches and two 6-4A district titles from the Honeybees in 2013 and 2014.

But not this time. Not even close.

Stephenville (18-19, 3-0) went on the road and flexed some muscle with a dominating 25-21, 25-15, 25-19 sweep of Wylie, leaving the Honeybees as the only team without a loss in 6-4A. They break from league play for a brief trip to Dublin next Tuesday, then its back to 6-4A action at home against Brownwood next Friday.

Senior middle Kourtney Seaton led the effort for Stephenville, which is 9-0 in district sets. A Northwetern State (La.) pledge, Seaton racked up 16 kills, four digs and four solo blocks.

Senior outside hitter Mikayla Hobbs tallied nine kills and seven digs, Kerstin Fredrikson added six kills and Kaleigh Conger five kills and 11 digs. The hitting was facilitated by setters Chelsea Gillespie with 18 assists and Taylor Garber with 15. Kylee Ponder anchored the defense with 15 digs.
