(October 6, 2015) — Tarleton State senior Ayssa Garcia has been named defensive player of the week in the Lone Star Conference after helping the TexAnns run their season-long win streak to six over the weekend.
Garcia, a libero from San Antonio, made 37 digs, averaging 5.29 in seven sets against St. Edward’s and Texas A&M-Kingsville. Tarleton defeated St. Edward’s in straight sets in Austin Friday evening and A&M-Kingsville in four sets Saturday afternoon.
Garcia helped the TexAnn defense limit the two opponents to a combined hitting percentage of just .036, and also had six assists offensively.
Tarleton welcomes Cameron to Wisdom Volleyball Gym at 6 p.m. Friday. The teams are part of a three-way tie for second place in the Lone Star Conference. The TexAnns also host Midwestern State at 2 p.m. Saturday.
