STEPHENVILLE (October 8, 2015) — Tarleton State has two Lone Star Conference volleyball matches at home this weekend. Below is the complete preview from Tarleton Athletic Communications:

AT A GLANCE
Tarleton will start a four-match LSC home stand with weekend matches against Cameron on Friday at 6 p.m. and Midwestern State on Saturday at 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton defeated A&M-Kingsville 3-1 en route to their sixth straight win to set a season high. It was the seventh straight win against A&M-Kingsville for the TexAnns.

TARLETON VS CAMERON
Although the TexAnns are 14-25 all-time against Cameron, Tarleton has won 11 straight against the Aggies dating back to 2008. The TexAnns have won the last five meetings at Wisdom Gym.

TARLETON VS MIDWESTERN ST
Tarleton has won 27 of 53 matches against Midwestern State since they began playing in 1978. The TexAnns, who are 13-6 all-time against MSU at home, have swept the last two matches and won 8 of the last 9.

RECEIVING VOTES
Tarleton received eight votes in the latest NCAA Division II top 25 rankings while Cameron gathered five votes.

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
The TexAnns have protected their home court this season by going 5-0 at Wisdom Gym.  Tarleton is outscoring opponents 15-1 in the five matches.

TOUGH COMPETITION
Tarleton is in a three-way tie for second place in the Lone Star Conference at 4-1 with Cameron and Angelo State. Texas Woman’s, who Tarleton defeated 3-1, is in first with a 5-1 conference record.

LEAGUE LEADERS
Tarleton leads the Lone Star Conference in five of the six statistical categories listed. Meg Umbel is tops in hitting percentage (.394) and blocks per set (1.23), Hailey Roberts leads in kills per set (6.08) and aces per set (0.53) and Chandler Gow leads in assists per set (11.91).

THE NATION’S BEST
Hailey Roberts‘ 6.08 kills per set and 365 total kills leads the nation. Chandler Gow‘s 11.91 assists per set ranks fifth in the nation. As a team, Tarleton is second in the nation in assists per set (14.15) and total assists (863), third in the nation in kills per set (14.85) and total kills (906).

AWARD WINNERS
After Ayssa Garcia was named the LSC Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, Tarleton has now had four players receive Conference Player of the Week awards this season. Hailey Roberts, offensive player of the week (3); Chandler Gow, setter of the week (2); Meg Umbel and Ayssa Garcia, defensvie player of the week (1).

COUNTDOWN TO 200
Mary Schindler, who is in her 11th season as the head coach of Tarleton, enters this game with 194 career wins as she moves closer to 200 all-time victories at the helm of the TexAnns. Schindler, who is the longest tenured coach in the history of the program, already owns the most wins by a coach in Tarleton history.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The TexAnns will continue LSC play as Texas Woman’s and Texas A&M-Commerce will head to Wisdom Gym on Oct. 16 and 17, respectively.
