Ranger College place sixth at TJC Invitational

RANGER (October 16, 2015)  – The Ranger College golf team finished off a solid outing at the Tyler Junior College Invitational on Tuesday, firing a final round of 301 and placing sixth in the final team standings at the 10-team event. The RC golfers finished the two-day meet with a final mark of 601 and finished just 31 strokes behind the Tyler Black squad which emerged as the eventual champion with a final mark of 570.

Stephen Pouria, a freshman from Lubbock, paced the Rangers at the meet. After fiting a 71 over the first 18 holes on Monday, he carded a final round of 75 on Tuesday and finished with a two-day total of 146.

Glenn Brisco, a a freshman from Old Colwyn, Wales, finished second among the Rangers, posting a final mark of 150 after back-to-back rounds of 75.

Sophomore Luke Garner, a McKinney native, and James “Acy” McGehee both finished at 153. Garner posted a final round of 77, while McGehee, a sophomore from Godley, Texas, carded a 74 over the final 18.

Ty Wright, a freshman from Godley, rounded out RC’s squad, firing a final round of 74 and finishing at 157 overall.

On the women’s side, Shalyn Smith finished among the top medalists. A freshman from Terrell, Texas, she finished third in the individual standings in the women’s field.
