Match Info:

Region I-4A Bi-district

Stephenville (W6) vs. Wichita Falls Hirschi (F5)

6:30 p.m. Monday at Jacksboro High School

For the winner:

An area round playoff against Fort Worth Castleberry or Godley

The skinny:

Forget the four-set playoff prep match loss to 3A title contender Glen Rose, now everything is for real. Hirschi had the benefit of being in a four-team district, getting to sneak into the playoffs in fourth place without a single district win. The Lady Huskies more resemble Mineral Wells, a team Stephenville swept 25-6, 25-10, 25-6 recently, than a playoff contender.

The pick:

Stephenville wins easily in three, the kind of “easily” that has some backups and perhaps even some junior varsity kids out on the court during the third set. That means lots of kids get to enjoy a little state playoff action, but it also means the Honeybees will have to pay special attention to remaining focused and not get lax with bigger matches immediately ahead.
