STEPHENVILLE (November 7, 2015) — Tarleton State (22-5, 12-1) has won 12 straight Lone Star Conference games, the largest such streak since joining the league in 1994, and is ranked second in the South Central Region, the highest in school history.

The TexAnns put both streak and ranking on the line this afternoon on their senior day. Their final regular season home game is against A&M-Kingsville at 2 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.

Here’s a preview from Tarleton Athletic Communications:

WHAT’S AT STAKE
The TexAnns are currently in the driver’s seat for the Lone Star Conference regular season championship, which includes the right to host the LSC Championship Tournament on Nov. 19-21. The TexAnns currently hold a one-game lead over Angelo State in the LSC standings. In addition to the right the host the LSC Tournament, Tarleton is also in a battle with Angelo State for the right to host the NCAA Regional Tournament. The Rambelles, despite being behind the TexAnns in the conference standings, were named the No. 1 team in the region in the first regional poll of the season last week while the TexAnns were No. 2.

BATTLE OF REGIONAL POWERS
The first NCAA regional ranking was released earlier this week and both the TexAnns and Javelinas made an appearance in the poll. Tarleton made school history with its highest ranking after checking in at No. 2; meanwhile the Javelinas are at No. 7 in the debut poll.

JUNIOR TEXANS LEAD THE CHARGE
The Junior Texan Club will lead the Texan Volleyball team onto the court before Saturday’s game against Texas A&M-Kingsville.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton continued to roll through a tough conference road trip, winning its third game on the road in five days with a 3-1 win at Texas A&M-Commerce and its 12th consecutive Lone Star Conference win.

TARLETON vs TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE
The TexAnns and Javelinas have played 44 times since the series began in 1985 and Tarleton holds a lead in the all-time series 24-20. Tarleton trailed the series 13-19 in 32 meetings between 1985 and 2009, but a four-set win in Stephenville turned the tide of the series and was the first of 11 wins over the next 12 meetings entering Saturday’s contest.

ROBERTS ON THE ALL-TIME LIST
Hailey Roberts continues to etch herself into the Tarleton record books every week. The sophomore from Cedar Park added 23 more kills to her total last Tuesday night and enters this weekend with 1,102 kills in her two-year Tarleton career. She is one of only eight TexAnns in school history with over 1,100 career kills and is 16 kills away from passing Stacie Murrah for seventh on the all-time list.

MOVING UP THE SINGLE-SEASON RECORD LISTS
Several TexAnns have already or are on the verge of moving into the top 10 individual statistical seasons in the history of TexAnn Volleyball. Hailey Roberts has pounded 595 kills this season, which is already the most by a single player in a season, and she is closing in on the Lone Star Conference record for kills in a season, which is 735 by West Texas A&M’s Sarah Butler in 1999. Chandler Gow has the third-most assists in a single season by a Tarleton TexAnn, entering Saturday’s match with 1,142. Meanwhile, Kenya Alexander (122) and Meg Umbel (115) are looking to move into the top 10 lists for total blocks as the tandem are looking to pass Amy Rice (130) for the 10th-most blocks in a season.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will hit the road for the final two games of the regular season next weekend for a 3 p.m. match Friday afternoon in Wichita Falls against Midwestern State before wrapping up the regular season at Cameron Saturday.
