STEPHENVILLE (November 10, 2015) – For the fourth time this season, the Tarleton TexAnns claimed two of the three weekly awards given by the Lone Star Conference – this time with Kenya Alexander and Chandler Gow taking the defensive player and setter of the week honors.

Alexander continued her run of dominance at the net by blocking 16 shots in eight sets last week to lift the TexAnns over Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas A&M-Kingsville. She averaged 2.0 blocks per set to jump back in the top 20 in the nation in blocks per set after going for her second double-double of the season against Kingsville with 13 kills and 11 blocks.

In addition to her defensive dominance, she also landed 23 kills on a .452 hitting percentage to go along with one assist, two digs, and 31.5 total points.

Meanwhile, Gow continued her dominance at the setter position as the sophomore from Mansfield went for 76 assists in eight sets last week for a team offensive attack of .239 in Tarleton’s two victories.

The team hitting percentage was enough to put Tarleton back in a share of the Lone Star Conference lead for offense, meanwhile Gow distributed the ball well as four different TexAnns went for double-figure kills, including three that topped the 20-kill plateau in eight sets. Gow also totaled six kills, three aces, 13 digs, six blocks, and 12.0 points.

For Alexander, this is her second defensive player of the week award this season and the fifth of her career. This is the third award for Gow this season and in her career.

The TexAnns will be in action on the road this weekend as they look to secure the school’s first Lone Star Conference regular season championship. Tarleton needs one win to secure at least a share of the title and two wins to claim the championship outright and the right to host the LSC Championship Tournament on Nov. 19-21.

Tarleton will be in Wichita Falls Friday at 3 p.m. against Midwestern State before wrapping up the season in Lawton, Oklahoma Saturday at 3 p.m. against Cameron.
