STEPHENVILLE (November 16, 2015) — As the search gets under way for the 25th head football coach at Tarleton State, associate head coach Mason Miller has been tasked with leading the day-to-day operations of the program.

Tarleton Athletic Director Lonn Reisman confirmed Monday evening that Miller has been named interim head coach. He was head coach at McMurry University in Abilene before coming to Tarleton in 2014.

Miller has served Tarleton as offensive coordinator and offensive line coach. Reisman did not indicate if Miller is a candidate for the head coach vacancy.

Cary Fowler resigned Monday following six seasons as head coach. The Texans completed a 3-7 campaign with a 48-47 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State Saturday at Memorial Stadium. They were 30-32 overall under Fowler, who led them to a share of the Lone Star Conference title in 2013.
