STEPHENVILLE (November 21, 2015) — With nine minutes to play Saturday night, Tarleton State found itself in a 45-45 tie with Texas Wesleyan.
But that’s when senior forward Ikpeaku Iwobi took over for the TexAnns. She had four points during the ensuing 10-0 run that gave Tarleton control for good, and finished with 10 of her 14 in the fourth quarter to go with 10 rebounds in a 66-54 victory.
The TexAnns (3-1) outscored Wesleyan (4-2), a Division III program out of Fort Worth, 21-9 over the final nine minutes. It was the fourth straight double-double by Iwobi, who was 6-11 from the floor and also had a pair of steals. Averie Mack also reached double figures with 10 off the bench.
The play was sloppy both ways with the teams combining for 43 turnovers and 42 made field goals.
Tarleton makes its first road trip of the season to Texas A&M-International Tuesday. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
