(December 5, 2015) — Stephenville salvaged a bronze bracket consolation victory Saturday to end a tough weekend of boys tournament play in Lake Worth.

Evan Moody got Stephenville going with a nine-point second quarter on his way to 15 for the game, as the Yellow Jackets overcame a scoreless first to beat Godley, 48-40.

Darian Brown also got going in the second with five points, then added six in the third before a fourth-quarter 3-pointer pushed him to 14 for the game.

The Yellow Jackets poured in 19 points in both the second and third quarters after the poor start that saw Godley jumping ahead 7-0 after one.

Other scorers for the Yellow Jackets were Easton Jones with six, Cameron Frazier five, Mason Holstein four, Rett Dittfurth two and Zoey Kendall two.

Stephenville was without post players Coby Vandenberge, who was ill, and Josh Nowell, who suffered a twisted ankle earlier in the tournament.

Stephenville hosts Aledo at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gandy Gym. Freshman play begins at 4:30, followed by the junior varsity game at 6.
