STEPHENVILLE (December 7, 2015) – This year’s annual Holly Jolly Christmas, sponsored by the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce and SPARD, will have all the best trademarks of the season – Santa Claus, carriage rides, hot chocolate, snowball fights and plenty more! Vendors and activities will be set up downtown around the courthouse and plaza from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, so be sure to drop by and enjoy the most wonderful time of the year.
To kick off the event, Santa and Mrs. Claus, Stephenville Mayor Kenny Weldon and some children from the Foster’s Home will light the Christmas tree at 6 p.m. Kids can get a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus at their booth for the rest of the evening. Other activities for kids include writing letters to Santa, games and activities at vendors’ booths throughout downtown, Christmas Story Time at Frames Etc. and decorating cookies at the HEB Cookie Factory. Also, this year the Great American Entertainment Company will debut a petting zoo.
At the main stage, local dance companies, church bands and different singers will be performing. Stephenville High School’s “In the Mix” choir will sing at the Courthouse, and the Gilbert Intermediate and Henderson Junior High choirs will sing at the First Methodist Church.
If you want to enjoy seeing downtown, check out the horse-drawn carriage rides. The downtown retailers will be open and plenty of vendors will be selling a wide variety of gifts for those who want to Christmas shop, and there will be desserts, cider, coffee, pizza, popcorn and more for people to enjoy. Do not forget to bring some cash to help out some local causes that will be fundraising throughout the evening.
