STEPHENVILLE (February 8, 2016) – Tarleton has announced its 2016 football schedule, which is set to begin on September 3 against Division I FCS member McNeese State.

“I don’t ever remember having a schedule as tough as this one,” said head coach Todd Whitten. “The Lone Star Conference is so deep and so talented, we’ve got a big challenge ahead of us to get back in the mix. Then you throw in McNeese State as an opener and I’m not sure how much tougher a schedule can get.”

The Texans will open its 11-game schedule on the road in Lake Charles, Louisiana against the Cowboys. This will be the first-ever meeting between Tarleton and McNeese State. It is the first time since 2011 that Tarleton has had a schedule filled with more than 10 games.
