STEPHENVILLE (February 10, 2016) — Tarleton State won its fourth straight Wednesday, including its second straight on the road, with a 65-50 upset of No. 24 Angelo State at Stephens Arena.

All four wins have come in Lone Star Conference play for the TexAnns, who snapped the five game win streak of ASU, which won eight of its previous nine.

Tarleton completed a season sweep of the Rambelles, having routed them 94-65 in Stephenville on January 6. Tarleton is tied with Texas A&M-Commerce for fourth in the Lone Star Conference, just a half game behind third-place Texas Woman’s.

Tarleton held ASU to a season low in scoring by 15 points, and remained unbeaten when turning the ball over less than 15 times. The TexAnns had just nine turnovers, compared to 19 by ASU, and outscored the Rambelles 17-4 off those.

Breanna Fuller had one of her best games as a TexAnn with 13 points and six boards. Fuller and birthday girl Morgan Ashmore made big impacts from the start, with Ashmore scoring the first four Tarleton points and Fuller netting eight by half, when the TexAnns led 35-25.

Ashmore talks about the big win on her 22nd birthday here:

Fuller finished with 13 points and seven boards for Tarleton, while Ashmore had eight and three assists. McGrath scored nine with four assists, while Wipff and Ikpeaku Iwobi each netted eight and Iwobi also collected nine rebounds. Averie Mack and Meagan O’Dell each scored six, and Mack dealt four assists.

McGrath, a senior point guard, topped 600 career career points on the first of two 3-pointers.

Angelo State cut the Tarleton lead to three on two occasions in the second half, but 3-pointers by Raven McGrath and Bailey Wipff righted the ship for the balanced TexAnns, who finished the game on a 14-3 run.

ASU was led by Taylor Dorsey with 11 points and six rebounds. Lexi Murphy snared 10 boards but did not score.

The Rambelles suffered a significant setback when leading post player Jasmine Prophet went down in the first half. She was tripped from behind on incidental contact in transition, and immediately clutched her right calf muscle and grimaced in pain. She was basically carried off the court by athletic trainers, putting no weight on the injured leg.

Tarleton returns to Wisdom Gym for a 5 p.m. date with Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday. ASU visits A&M-Commerce at 4 p.m. Saturday.
