(February 14, 2016) — Tarleton State won its final three games at the WT Invitational at West Texas A&M, bouncing back after dropping two games on opening day of the event in Canyon.

A three-run triple by Mikayla Stogsdill fueled a five-run third inning that led Tarleton to a 6-2 win against Lubbock Christian Sunday, closing out the weekend. Haley Freyman (7-2) earned her 30th carer win and 20th career complete game in the circle, allowing two runs – one earned – on 10 hits and just one walk with three strikeouts.

Tarleton won despite being out-hit 10-5, taking advantage of three Lubbock Christian errors to score five unearned runs.

Tarleton swept two games Saturday, defeating Colorado State-Pueblo, 5-2, and Adams State (Colo.), 6-2.

Stephenville product Katelyn Conlee hit her second home run of the season to begin the scoring, and Tarleton took the lead for good when an error followed a triple by Lauren Powers to make it 3-2 in the top of the third.

Freyman went the distance in the circle, allowing just one earned run on three hits and a walk while striking out three.

With Shelby Hedrick unavailable to pitch, Tarleton turned to Alyssa Ringhausen for six shutout innings in the win against Adams State. Ringhausen logged her third career complete game, overcoming a two-run first to shut down Adams the rest of the way. Only one of the runs was earned as she scattered eight hits and a walk while striking out seven.

Stogsdill was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.

Tarleton will be in the Rattler Invitational at St. Mary’s next Friday through Sunday in San Antonio.
