STEPHENVILLE – The reigning Lone Star Conference champions have signed four high school stars, which are set to join TexAnn Volleyball this fall.

“We are so excited about these signees,” said head coach Mary Schindler. “I believe each of them will be impact players for us in their time at Tarleton. We graduated several seniors who were four-year kids. They were tremendous volleyball players but even better people, and that is what we worked hard to replace.”

Here is a look at the newest TexAnns:

Alissa Johnson | RS | Dripping Springs High School

Johnson comes to Tarleton after starring for Dripping Springs for the last two seasons. The left-handed right side hitter was a two-time academic all-district and all-state selection with back-to-back all-district honors for her efforts on the court. As a junior, she was named a Hays Free Press Honorable Mention athlete.

“Alissa is a RS lefty with great ball control,” said Schindler. “She is such an impressive young lady and every time I talk to her, I’m smiling. I know that she can be an offensive force for us and I look forward to having her on the team. She has great shot selection and will be one of the best teammates anyone could ask for.”

Kassidy McCabe | OH | College Station High School

McCabe comes to Tarleton after a record-setting career with College Station, as she became the first player in the school’s history to play in every varsity district game in a four-year career. She is a four-time academic all-district selection and is a two-time, first-team all-district selection. She was the team’s offensive MVP as a junior and all-around MVP as a senior in addition to being a two-time all-state honorable mention selection by Texas Sports Writers.

“Kassidy is an outside who is springy and does a good job of working around the block,” said Schindler. “She has a nice cross-court shot and will be one of the hardest workers on a daily basis. She is also a student-athlete that will be a high-character person for us. She will be enjoyable to coach and I am looking forward to having her in the gym for the next four years.”

Bailey Meggs | OH | Robinson High School

Meggs joins the TexAnns after back-to-back MVP caliber seasons at Robinson High School near Waco. She posted two straight seasons of first-team all-district and first-team all-state numbers for Robinson, as well as being the MVP of the Regional Tournament in two straight seasons. She was the 2014 Super CenTex Player of the Year and a two-time, first-team Texas Sports Writers All-State selection.

“Bailey is a strong outside hitter with a fierce determination that comes from a family with a great work ethic,” said Schindler. “I know that she will be someone who leaves our program and Tarleton a better place. She has a fun personality and expects to win. I look forward to having her size, strength, and mental toughness in the gym every day.”

Michaela Rodriguez | DS | O’Connor High School

Rodriguez comes to Tarleton following a two-year varsity career at Sandra Day O’Connor High School in San Antonio. She helped her team to a 5A area championship as a junior and a 6A regional title last season. She comes to Tarleton as a defensive specialist after filling in as a setter for O’Connor last season, in which she posted a pair of key double-double efforts with 30 assists and 13 digs against Reagan High and 29 assists with 11 digs against New Braunfels.

“Michaela has such a high volleyball IQ,” said Schindler. “She is quick and reads well. She will be a huge addition to our defense and will bring a good energy to the gym everyday. When you watch her play, you can’t help but get excited because her positive personality is contagious. I look for her to come in an contribute immediately.”
