Tarleton wins Otter Invitational

SEASIDE, Calif. – TexAnn Golf won their third tournament of the 2015-16 season by defeating the field by an impressive 13 strokes at the Otter Invitational at Bayonet & Blackhorse Golf Courses.

The TexAnns, who shot a 313 in the first round to hold the lead, improved by 17 strokes to card a 296 and a 609 (+33) for the two-day tournament. Tarleton was the only team to shoot better than 303 in the tournament. Western Washington finished in second with a 622 (+46).

Beatriz Prados led the way for the TexAnns by shooting a 150 (+6) to win the individual title in Seaside, California. Prados improved her first-round score by six strokes and shot an even-par 72 in the final round. Prados sank five birdies and 21 pars in the tournament.

Casey Wild finished in a tie for fourth after knocking three strokes off her opening-round score. Wild shot a 78, 75 (153, +9) in the tournament and had a team-best 23 pars.

Isabel Jimenez-Perea jumped 31 spots in the individual standings by improving her scorecard by ten strokes. Jimenez-Perea finished in ninth place and shot an even-par 72 for a total of 154 (+10) in the tournament. Jimenez-Perea had three birdies and 21 pars in the two rounds.

Sarah Gee finished in 11th place with a 155 (+11). Like Prados, Wild, and Jimenez-Perea, Gee finished better than she started and took a stroke off her first-round score (78, 77). Gee sank four birdies in the tournament.

Kerbey Kipp finished with a 164 (+20). Kipp tied for the team lead with five birdies.

The tournament featured two other Lone Star Conference opponents in West Texas A&M and Angelo State. The Lady Buffs finished in 10th with a score of 641 (+65) and the Rambelles came in 14th with a 662 (+86).

Tarleton will travel to Goodyear, Arizona to compete at the Mustang Intercollegiate, a tournament they won last season, on April 1.
