Maddi Grimes advances to regionals in golf

(March 28, 2016) — Stephenville High School completed its girls district golf tournament Monday, with Maddi Grimes moving on to regionals as an individual medalist.

The Honeybees just missed advancing to regionals as a team, finishing four strokes out of a tie for second. The Bees completed two team rounds in 822 strokes, four behind Abilene Wylie and Brownwood, who both carded totals of 818. Graham won with a team score of 781, while Wylie II and Mineral Wells were fifth and sixth in 928 and 976, respectively.

Grimes is advancing as a top finishing medalist not already on an advancing team. She had rounds of 99 and 103 to finish in 202 strokes, three ahead of teammates Morgan Kinsey and Taylor Harpole at 205. Maci Decker finished in 210. Maren Isham combined for 227 strokes with her rounds not affecting the team sccores.

Stephenville was also represented by individual medalists in Tatum Dobson, 239, and Peyton Barberee, 271. Kaylee Dahl withdrew.
