TexAnns top first regional rankings, Wild earns weekly LSC honor

(April 7, 2016) – In the first golf regional rankings of the season, Tarleton opens up at No. 1 in the West Region.

The TexAnns are coming off their second straight tournament win and shot a season-low 579 (+3) at the Mustang Intercollegiate last week. Tarleton has won four of the eight tournaments in the 2015-16 season.

Casey Wild led the way for the TexAnns and was subsequently named Lone Star Conference Golfer of the Week. She joined teammate Isabella Jimenez-Perea in a four-way tie for first on the individual leaderboard with a two-under 142 over two rounds.

Tarleton has won two straight regional championships and have eight titles in the last nine years.

Tarleton is one of three Lone Star Conference teams in the regional poll along with West Texas A&M (9) and Midwestern State (13).

The TexAnns host the Doc Housewright Invitational on April 11-12 at Harbor Lakes Golf Club in Granbury to close out the regular season. The Lone Star Conference Championships take place April 17-19 at the Frisco Lakes Golf Club in Frisco.

The NCAA Division II West Reginals are in Stockton California at the Brookside Country Club on May 1-4.
