Eight Lingleville athletes qualify for regionals

(April 18, 2016) — Lingleville is sending eight athletes to compete in four events at the UIL Region I-3A Track and Field Meet.

The Cardinals’ 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams, the Lady Cardinals’ 4×200 squad and boys long jumper Chase Carlson – also a member of the relays – each qualified for the regional meet, set for April 29-30 at Tarleton State.

The athletes competed in area last week at Strawn, and top four finishers in each event move on to regionals. The top two at the regional meet advance to the UIL Track & Field State Meet in Austin in May.

The same quartet runs in the same order on each of the qualifying boys’ relays. Bailey Fenn runs the opening leg, followed by Adrian Briseno. Devon Corpus is the setup man and Carlson anchors the quartet. They finished second in the 4×200, third in the 4×100 and Carlson was fourth in long jump at area.

The girls’ 4×100 club is comprised of Dorothy Cruz on the opening leg, followed by Selena Alvarado. Sisters Natalie and Nicole Koke are third and fourth.
