ABILENE (April 27, 2016) – Tarleton track and field wrapped up the regular season with a “great day” at the Oliver Jackson Twilight at Abilene Christian University and will now turn its attention to next weekend’s Lone Star Conference Championships at Memorial Stadium in Stephenville.

The Texans and TexAnns combined to win six events and hit 10 NCAA provisional marks while the women’s mile relay team etched their name in the Tarleton history books with a new school record.

“We had a great day and hopefully that gives us some momentum heading into the Lone Star Conference Championships,” said head coach Pat Ponder. “Our athletes are very excited with how they performed today and they have a right to be excited. We need to take this momentum into next weekend and we really need a good home crowd at Memorial Stadium. That would be really good for us, especially for these student-athletes.”

Four of the NCAA marks and the school record came from the women’s side, starting in the 400m hurdles. Arianna Stegall finished with the fourth fastest non-Division 1 time in the long hurdles with a mark time of 1:01.23. Danyelle Dillard also hit an individual mark for the women with a shot-put throw of 44′ 8” to hit an NCAA mark.

The other top accolades on the women’s side came from the sprint and mile relay teams.

The sprint relay team of Deylinn Garret, Ariel Ballard, Hollie Boyd, and DeAijha Hicks-Boyce hit their NCAA mark of 46.82 while the mile relay team of Ashley Johnson, Hicks-Boyce, Ballard, and Jasmine Owens hit an NCAA mark and set a new standard for Tarleton with a time of 3:41.51 – topping the previous school record of 3:42.15 set by LaDaria Nelson, Hicks-Boyce, Leslie Zupanic, and Owens last season.

Andrea Ibe delivered Tarleton’s only event victory in the non-Division I results with a triple jump of 37′ 8”.

On the men’s side, Dalton Stidham highlighted the afternoon with two of Tarleton’s 10 total NCAA marks as the freshman hit the national standard in the 110m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles. Stidham, a sophomore from Boyd, ran a 14.15 in the short hurdles and a 53.16 in the long hurdles.

Tarleton’s male runners rounded out its afternoon with a season-best run from the 4x400m relay team of Gilson Umunnakwe Blake Eschbach, Cameron Krc, and Clarencio Guerrero ran a 3:09.79 to improve their standing among national qualifiers.

The Texans got three NCAA marks out of the field Wednesday as Rascellis Williams, William Carlton, and Zach Pratt reached the national standard.

Williams hit the mark in the high jump, an event that he defeated all other non-Division I competitors, by jumping 6′ 11” while William Carlton, who also won his event among non-Division I athletes, claimed a mark with a pole vault leap of 15′ 11”. Zach Pratt had a personal record of 52′ 11” in the shot put, which improved his national standings.

In addition to Williams and Carlton, Stidham won the 110m Hurdles while Dylan Willett (3:53.79) won the 1500m and Thorne Pettigrew (10:00.61) earned a win in the 3000m Steeplechase.
