Bees finish seventh twice in running finals

LUBBOCK (April 30, 2016) — Stephenville completed its track and field season with its girls 4×200 relay team finishing in seventh in the running finals at the Region I-4A/5A Meet at Lowry Field Saturday afternoon.

Kristen Pettit opened and handed off to Hailey Martin. The baton then went to Bailey McBee for the fourth leg before Bayleigh Chaviers brought them home on a total time of 1:47.04. It was an improvement of 0.44 from Friday’s preliminary races, when they were the sixth qualifier.

Martin was also seventh across the finish line in the 100 hurdles as the only Stephenville athlete to qualify in an individual event for the running finals. Martin finished in 16.09 after qualifying in sixth on Friday with a wind-aided 15.53.

The Honeybees scored nine total points while the Yellow Jackets, who were shut out of the running finals scored six.
