DUBLIN (May 10, 2016) – Sarah MaCann was sworn-in on Monday as part of the Dublin City Council’s regular meeting.
The council heard from City Administrator Nancy Wooldridge on various repairs going on around the city facilities from storm damage. According to Wooldridge, TML (the company that holds the city’s insurance policies) is working with the city staff to ensure all repairs are getting done and the city is being reimbursed for a majority of it.
“To date we’ve (the city of Dublin) seen $1.3M from TML to reimburse us for the cost of numerous repairs needed following not only the storms this year, but also the storm last April,” she reported Monday night. “Since the first issues with TML, they’ve worked with us quite well. They haven’t completely reimbursed the city of the total cost, but a large portion has been reimbursed to date, with more to come.”
Wooldridge reported there were even some items that had not been included in the insurance policy due to an error by TML that were being covered at the city park including the fences and other major items damaged. She also said the dispatchers’ radio equipment was being installed and TML will be paying the city back for those items as well.
“So far, they’ve not told me no,” Wooldridge told the council. “They’ve agreed to every single thing we’ve asked for that have been within the requirements of the policy, and even a few that weren’t. Which is wonderful since we’ve been out of City Hall for more than a year now. But there is progress.”
The council also heard reports from a number of departments including the city pool’s Jose Aleman. He said there would be a total of nine lifeguards on duty this summer for the city of Dublin, all of which would be certified to teach swimming lessons. Aleman also advised the pool would be open on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30 and then would pick up a regular schedule thereafter with Monday’s closed.
Dublin Mayor David Leatherwood proclaimed May 9-15 as National Police Officers’ Week and May 16-22 as Emergency Medical Service Week.
Other items on the agenda included:
• approving the Ordinance Committee’s revisions to the city’s Personnel Policy, effective June 1, 2016;
• accepting the engineering report from Calvary
• accepting the certificate of unopposed candidates for the general election;
• appointing two new members to the Board of Adjustments;
• and Steve Hightower to the Upper Leon River MWD Board for a three-year term.
Before adjourning, the council went into executive session to discuss Dublin EMS personnel matters. Upon returning, the council unanimously appointed Aaron Hoodie as interim EMS coordinator. Hoodie has several years experience with Dublin EMS, Stephenville EMS and other area departments.
