STEPHENVILLE (May 17, 2016) — After helping Dublin to historic heights in volleyball and basketball, three seniors are taking their talent to the next level.

Faith Faulkner, senior middle blocker, signed a letter of commitment to play volleyball at Eastfield College, a junior college in Mesquite, while twins Carley and Carey Belew inked letters with Sul Ross State, a NCAA Division III university in Alpine.

A brief signing ceremony was held Wednesday morning in the Dublin High School Library.

Faulkner, 6-0, was the district MVP as a senior, middle blocker of the year as a sophomore and junior and newcomer of the year as a freshman.

“I went to the campus and really liked it. I even got to meet the president of the college and all of the (volleyball) girls, it was really nice,” said Faulkner. “I loved it, I could tell its a family-oriented program and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”

Carey and Carley Belew helped Dublin girls basketball back to the state playoffs then to their first postseason win since 2008.

“I’m very excited, it’s a dream come true,” Carey said. “It’s cool looking (around Alpine) with the hills and mountains, and I have the opportunity to play with (Carley), which is really cool.”

Carley agrees.

“This is something I’ve always wanted to do and I’m glad to have the chance to do it,” Carley said.

All three Lady Lions say lessons learned at Dublin will help them in their collegiate endeavors.

“Playing here at Dublin has taught me hard work and dedication,” Faulkner said. “Especially playing for Coach (Ryan) Lewis, because she really strives for hustle and tells us if you’re going to be out there you might as well give 110 percent.”

Carley Belew added, “Working together as a team, we’ve really learned this year how much that can pay off.”
