STEPHENVILLE (June 3, 2016) — Morgan Carter, coordinator of Institutional Effectiveness at Tarleton State University, has been selected to serve on the Local Employee Committee of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC).

The SECC, the only statutorily-authorized workplace campaign for state agency and higher education employees throughout Texas, allows state employees to make a difference for others year round. The SECC enables state employees to make a contribution to many local, state, national and international charities through the convenience of payroll deduction or a one-time donation through a check.

“The Local Employee Campaign is proud to welcome Mr. Morgan Carter to a leadership position in the campaign. His commitment, enthusiasm and insight is exactly what we need to direct the campaign and our community forward,” said Marti Lawrence, director of the DFW Metroplex SECC.

Carter, a nine-year Tarleton staff member, has been involved with the university’s SECC campaign, known on campus as “Pass the Hat,” for the past four years and will serve as this year’s chair.

“Morgan has always been a supporter of Tarleton’s SECC efforts, but since coming to the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, he has elevated his involvement,” said Dr. Michael Haynes, executive director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. “His passion for this cause is evident, and I know he will have a successful 2016 campaign.”

During the past five years, Tarleton employees have contributed more than $66,400 toward the Pass the Hat campaign, exceeding the campus committee’s goals each time. During that period, there has been a 385-percent increase in dollars donated to the SECC by Tarleton faculty and staff, and a 470-percent increase in participation.
