GLEN ROSE (June 7, 2016) – The Promise in Glen Rose is preparing for its 28th fall season. The one-of-a-kind outdoor passion play, staged at the Texas Amphitheatre with a cast and crew of more than 150 individuals, is put on every Friday and Saturday evening in September and October.
Kristen Gibson, creative director, recently sent out a casting call, announcing three opportunities to audition for any of about 100 acting roles in the drama. Auditions will be held June 10, 11 and 18 in Granbury, Arlington and Hurst, respectively.
“We are looking for singers, dancers and actors of all ages and skill levels,” Gibson said.
In addition to searching for the perfect fit for the musical’s main rolls, which include a grandfather and his grandchildren and the prophets of The Old Testament foretelling the Life of Christ, the production crew also has non-speaking and non-singing roles to fill.

“We recommend vocalist audition with a song from The Promise,” Gibson said, adding digital copies of the music will be sent to hopefuls who book an audition.
Actors who would not like to be considered for a strictly vocal role must be prepared to sing the first verse of Amazing Grace.
Reading selections from The Promise script will be provide for a cold readings at the audition.
Every year The Promise wows a captivated crowd, but Gibson said the 2016 season promises to be one of the best yet.
Director Michael Meece, who directed the debut of the production in 1989 and The Promise’s first seven season has returned to lead to the passion play cast and crew, and former cast member is making his return as the new general manager.
“Bill Brooks once played Peter,” Gibson said.
With an amphitheatre that seats more than 3,000 and flock of faithful followers attending The Promise each fall, Gibson said there is a need for other individuals who would like to be a part of the ministry.
Non-acting roles include backstage and technical crew, lighting, sound, props, costumes, makeup, staff, concession, ushers, gift shop, parking attendants and box office workers.
Selected cast and crew members are paid a stipend based upon role size.
