Sy Felton of Stephenville won the calf roping competition at the Pinnacle Bank Best of the Best Timed Event Rodeo this weekend in Gallup, New Mexico.
Felton won a saddle and more than $3,400 after using 28.5 seconds to rope and tie three head. The Stephenville teen, who recently competed in the Texas High School Rodeo Association finals, was third with a 9.2 in the first round, went 10.4 in the second and found himself in third entering the short go.
Felton didn’t back down, winning the final round in a blistering 8.9 seconds to also come out on top in the average.
