(June 30, 2016) — Stephenville is picked third in its district and 24th in the state by Friday Night Football Texas magazine.

The seventh annual edition of FNF Texas has officially been released, complete with predictions for every UIL 11-man class, division and district as well as a number of feature stories, a recruiting round up and more.

Stephenville is picked to finish a spot higher than last season when the Jackets nudged their way into the playoffs in fourth place. After the 3-4A Division I went untouched by the biennial realignment, FNF predicts Stephenville will be third behind Abilene Wylie and Brownwood this fall, with Snyder expected to claim the fourth playoff spot and Big Spring bringing up the rear.

Wylie is ranked No. 3 in 4A Division I by the magazine, with Brownwood at No. 6. Add in Stephenville’s top 25 prestige, and it’s expected to be one of the most heated district battles in the division.

Much the same can be said for Hico and the rest of District 7-2A Division I. The Tigers are picked third behind state powers Crawford and Goldthwaite, with local team De Leon right behind Hico in fourth. Hamilton San Saba and Valley Mills are picked fifth through seventh, respectively.

Crawford is ranked second in 2A Division I, Goldthwaite 10th and Hico 24th.

Dublin is tabbed fifth in 10-3A Division II. The Lions dropped a division after winning bi-district playoff games in back-to-back seasons for the first time in school history. But a Division I to Division II move also meant joining No. 7 Coleman, No. 10 Cisco and No. 17 Eastland in a loaded district that also includes upstart Tolar thanks to a jump in classifications after a run to the state quarterfinals in 2A Division I last fall.

Dublin is one of several schools statewide that partnered with FNF for a custom cover and team feature page. Customized Dublin copies of the magazine will soon be available through Dublin High School and The Flash will let you know as soon as they come in. The magazine with the statewide cover will be sold at Walmart.

The magazine is published by The Old Coach, which features a network of reporters covering high school football at TheOldCoach.com.
