Amber Reneé Noonkester Ramsdell, 28, of Beaverton, Oregon, formerly a Stephenville resident, passed away Sunday, July 3, 2016 in Portland, Oregon.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 10th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Pony Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin a 2:00 PM (one hour prior to services).

Amber was born October 2, 1987 to Larry and Lorie Noonkester in Cleburne, Texas. She grew up in Stephenville, Texas, and graduated from Stephenville High School with honors in 2006. While in high school, she was involved in UIL, choir, Stingerettes, soccer, and the National Honor Society.

Upon completions of high school, Amber entered the University of Texas at Austin where she earned her B. S. in Nursing in 2010, and her RN license shortly thereafter. She went on to earn her Masters of Science in Nurse Education from Georgetown University in 2015.

She was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in July 2010. During her service, she served at Wilford Hall Medical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center at Joint Base San Antonio, Texas as a high risk Labor and Delivery nurse. In August 2014, Amber retired from the Air Force with the rank of Captain.

While serving in the Air Force, Amber met then-Lieutenant Griffin Ramsdell, an Air Force Navigator in February 2011. Knowing immediately that they were meant for each other, Amber and Griffin were engaged in September 2011 on the banks of the Arkansas River in Little Rock, Arkansas and were married on September 22, 2012 in Hurst Texas.

Upon Captain Ramsdell’s retirement from the Air Force, they moved to Portland, Oregon to begin their civilian life. Amber was employed as a Labor and Delivery nurse at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital, and as an adjunct instructor at the University of Portland. Amber and Griffin were faithful members of St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church in Beaverton.

Amber is survived by her husband, Griffin Ramsdell of Beaverton, Oregon; her parents Larry and Lorie Noonkester of Stephenville, Texas; her brother, Adam Noonkester of Stephenville, Texas, her in-laws, Karla and David Angal of Medford, Oregon, and numerous relatives including aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close family friends.

Amber was preceded in death by her grandmother, Jean “Nanny” Noonkester; grandfather, Billy Noonkester; and grandfather, Claudie Meador.
