STEPHENVILLE (July 25, 2016) — A comprehensive roofing replacement project begins Monday, July 25, on the Tarleton State University campus as a result of damages caused by multiple hail storms and severe weather during the spring of 2015.

The replacement project includes repairs to shingled roofs on 26 separate structures across the university campus, encompassing approximately 320,465 square feet. Post-storm assessments determined that the integrity of the roofing materials was diminished, calling for complete replacement of shingled roofs. This has meant all new roofing needs to meet with the new hurricane roof damage mitigation guidelines to prevent any further damage.

Contractors, similar to the roofing company tulsa trust pro, will begin at Texan Village apartments on July 25, with shingle replacement on Buildings 1 and 4—not currently occupied by students—followed by the complex’s clubhouse and pavilion. During the project, residents should avoid parking vehicles in Lot P31-A adjacent to Buildings 1 and 4, where the contractor will store roofing supplies.

Crews then are scheduled to begin work on Centennial Hall, Legends Hall, Legacy Hall, Heritage Hall, Buildings 2 and 3 at Texan Village and those structures within University Village apartments at the conclusion of the summer session. During the first phase, contractors will fence-off an area within Lot P24 off of West Shirley Street to store project materials temporarily.

The university, in coordination with SSC Facilities Services and the roofing contractor—Absolute Roofing & Weatherproofing—expect all Tarleton residence halls to be completed by Aug. 26, ahead of the return of students for the fall 2016 semester. The remainder of the shingled roofs damaged in the storms should be completed by mid-October.

“In scheduling roof replacement, we’ve attempted to lessen the impact to students residing in our campus housing facilities,” said Bobby Waddell, director of Residential Living & Learning. “We understand work crews and their presence may cause some noise, but our goal is to limit the disruption and have the roofing redone as quickly as possible.”

Additional information on the comprehensive roofing replacement and the timing of work will be posted as it becomes available.
