STEPHENVILLE (July 27, 2016) — Cross Timbers Fellowship of Christian Athletes hosted area coaches for a preseason kickoff luncheon Wednesday at Paradigm Center in Stephenville.

“We’re here today to encourage, serve and defend coaches,” said Cross Timbers FCA director Carrie Normand, herself a past Stephenville coach. “What we wand to be to you is a cool drink of water in the middle of the desert.”

Normand spoke after Cross Timbers FCA chairperson and Stephenville mayor Kenny Weldon spoke about how a coach influenced him to play football at the Air Force Academy, which led to a life full of service and leadership that continues today in the City of Stephenville and at Tarleton State University.

“Can a coach have an impact that leads to a life of Christian service and leadership?” Weldon asked the crowd of more than 60 coaches from Stephenville, Tarleton, Dublin, Lingleville and others. “I know they can because a coach stepped in and made it happen for me.”

Normand shared some of the FCA calendar for the fall, including the Back to School Bash, a concert in Stephenville City Park, on August 31, See You at the Pole at area campuses on September 28, and Fields of Faith at Tarleton Memorial Stadium on October 12.

The FCA ministry is present in 40 states and 33 countries around the globe.
