Cool times at the annual freeze-off in Morgan Mill

MORGAN MILL (July 30, 2016) – The Morgan Mill community held their annual Homemade Ice Cream Competition Saturday at the Morgan Mill Community Center. There was a delicious BBQ lunch served, and the event was well attended.

The Carter BloodCare bus was there so donors could donate some of their blood to help others in need.  At the time, the final figures for this year’s event were not in but last year 19 units of blood were collected and $3,200 were raised.

That was the goal again for this year.  The money raised is to be divided among three different area Masonic Lodges.  And, of course, all three lodges had members present. Those lodges are Harmony Masonic Lodge #592 (Morgan Mill), Clairette Masonic Lodge #1052 and Lingleville Masonic Lodge # 752.

The newest member of your Flash team had some delicious BBQ brisket and sampled numerous varieties of flavored ice creams, unable to choose a favorite. The Ice Cream Competition was judged by Julie Crouch, Wanda Pringle, Russ McDanel and Tommy Bryant.  Unfortunately, Tommy Bryant and Wanda Pringle left before the judges’ photo was taken with the winners.

The winners were: 1st Place, Theresa Hutchins (Oreo Ice Cream), 2nd Place, Blanton Jones (Banana Nut Ice Cream), 3rd Place, Jaylon Snead (Vanilla Pineapple Ice Cream), and finally, Billy Davis won “People’s Choice” with his Cantaloupe Ice Cream.  Congratulations to the winners and thanks to the judges and event organizers.
