STEPHENVILLE (August 4, 2016) – This was the first year for the Stephenville Police Department sponsored Pokemon Safari in the Stephenville City Park.

“I think that it was a very huge success,” Sgt. Sha King said when asked how he thought the event went. “I think we had more than half the people that registered sign up for it.  The heat probably kept a lot of them back.  It was a great day for us all.”

There is a lot of interest in the Pokemon Safari from area residents and Sgt. Sha King and the Stephenville PD had to cut off pre-registrations when they reached a total of 200.  Sgt. King estimated there were approximately 125 to 130 participants counting some of the accompanying parents.

The Stephenville Police Department would like to thank: SPARD, the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce, the Stephenville Public Library, and several area businesses, churches and volunteers.  The Stephenville Chamber of Commerce was responsible for over 40 workers and volunteers who helped to make the event a success.

There was a lot of smiling and laughing and a good time was had by all.  This was a neat and safe event where area residents had a chance to get to know their city police officers a little better.  A big thank you to the Stephenville Police Department.
