STEPHENVILLE (August 12, 2016) — Karate is coming to Stephenville Saturday.

A great deal of it, too.

Texas Association of Nippon Kenpo, Fudoshin Dojo of Stephenville and Sensei Robi Kunkel present the Cowboy Capital Karate Championships, with reports of more than 300 contestants expected at City Hall on the grounds of City Limits.

Doors open at 8 a.m. with the breaking competition starting at 8:30. The tournament kicks off at 9 a.m.

The event is AOK-sanctioned and features 130 divisions in breaking, Kata, Specialty and Sparring, with awards for first, second and two third-place finishers. The contestants are coming from all over Texas with one team traveling from Mississippi.
