(August 29, 2016) — Two wins in Washington last week have pushed Stephenville header Luke Brown back to the top of the PRCA team roping world standings. His heeling partner, Jake Long of Morgan Mill, is third.

Brown and Long headline a bevy of locals battling for the top spot, and the margin is razor thin. Brown leads Stephenville header Kaleb Driggers by less than $450 in heading, and Colby Lovell of Stephenville is fourth less than $5,000 back.

Junior Nogueira, heeling partner to Driggers, leads the heeling standings with Huckabay’s Paul Eaves in second less than $1,700 behind him. Long is another $1,200 back, then the gap widens with Travis Graves of Morgan Mill sitting fourth roughly $17,000 behind Long.

Stephenville tie-down roper Marty Yates had a big week, winning the second round and taking third in the average at Kennewick, fourth at Gem State Stampede in Coeur D’Alene, Idaho and third at Rancho Mission Viejo Rodeo in San Juan Capistrano, California. Yates banked more than $10,000 for the week, charging up to 12th in the world.

Reigning saddle bronc riding world champ and current world standings leader Jacobs Crawley, a Stephenville native living in Boerne, was second at the Champions Challenge in Kennewick, then third in the regular rodeo there. He was also third in San Juan Capistrano and tied for sixth at Oregon Trail Rodeo in Hastings, Nebraska, earning north of $11,000 for the week.
