STEPHENVILLE (September 20, 2016) — Tarleton State pushed No. 8 Angelo State to the edge in all three sets.

But in all three, ASU prevailed.

Tarleton beat ASU at home en rout to its first Lone Star Conference championship last year, but it was the Rambelles grabbing the early lead in the LSC this year with a key road win Tuesday evening at Wisdom Gym, 25-23, 25-22, 26-24.

The Rambelles finished the first by scoring five of the last eight after it was deadlocked at 20-20, took control of the second with three straight points after it was even at 11-11 and didn’t take the lead for good in the third until after it was knotted at 20-20.

ASU hit .315 as a team compared to just .194 for Tarleton, despite 17 kills by All-American outside hitter Hailey Roberts and 30 assists by Jordyn Keamo. ASU was led by Brianna Sotello with 16 kills, Mallory Blauser with 14 and 38 assists by Meghan Parker. Morgan Seaton had five blocks.

The Tarleton defense was anchored by Adrianna Knutson with 14 digs, while ASU was led in that department by Blauser with 15 for a double-double.

Tarleton visits West Texas A&M at 7 p.m. Friday and Texas-Permian Basin at noon on Saturday.
