Dublin splits opening two district matches

(September 28, 2016) — Dublin lost its first district match in two seasons Tuesday, falling in five sets on the road to Comanche.

The Lady Lions are 1-1 in district play, having defeated Bangs in four sets last Saturday. They had a first set hiccup, falling 23-25, but then took over the match, winning the next three sets, 25-8, 25-14, 25-19.

Leading the way in the win was Whitney Weems with 21 kills, six blocks and two digs. Jordyn Ricks enjoyed a double-double with 36 assists and 12 aces, while Kyleigh Bamber had seven kills and nine digs and Angelica Linan added five kills.

Dublin is home for their next two matches with Eastland visiting Roy and Lynn Neff Gym at 2 p.m. Saturday and Early rolling through at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4.
